Next meeting Thursday 10th August. 5.30pm in the WGHS Staffroom.
Guest Speaker- Samaria Tugaga from NZ Police.
Who are we?
We are a group of parents with our prime function being a means of communication between the school and home, providing the opportunity to discuss issues with other parents and the Principal. Meeting other parents from the school can help you feel more comfortable with how your daughter fits in and how she is progressing with the academic side of school life at a large secondary school.
PTA meetings are your chance to keep up to date with what's happening at school and what opportunities are coming up for your daughter. There is usually a guest speaker, often a staff member, who gives us an insight into their role at school. The Principal always gives a report on recent and upcoming events, achievements and changes.
Minutes of each meeting are sent to you by email prior to the next meeting, once you have put your contact details on the PTA contacts list. We meet in the staff room at 5.30pm one Thursday a month excluding school holidays.
Fundraising is often a primary focus of PTA groups, especially those of primary and intermediate schools. The only fundraising events for several years have been catering for the school ball in June and running a second hand uniform sale in January each year. Most of the work we do for the school is serving refreshments at occasional school events. We also present awards at the end of year prizegivings.
Second Hand Uniforms
Second hand uniform service available. Items for sale 4.30pm - 5.30pm before each PTA meeting once a month from the store room in the English/Arts block across from the office block.. Most items are between $5 and $25.
